YVAS Hosts Annual Dental Giveaway
Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter (YVAS) hosts its annual Dental Giveaway each February, providing free dental care to selected pets in the Billings community. The program is designed to support underserved pet owners who may not have the financial means to afford routine or advanced dental care at a traditional veterinary clinic. From cleanings to extractions and follow-up care, the giveaway helps ensure pets can eat, play, and live pain-free lives.
Nominations for this giveaway can be accessed via YVAS’s website and social media channels, they are reviewed by staff and volunteers to identify pets with the greatest need. On average, two animals are selected each year, with no eligibility requirements to enter. The giveaway covers all necessary services, including exams, procedures, medications, and post-operative care.
“Good dental health is often overlooked, but it’s essential to an animal’s quality of life,” said Jennifer Bradley, YVAS veterinary technician. “From better eating to increased energy, dental care plays a critical role in overall health and it is one of the most overlooked issues we see.”
While YVAS is unable to offer routine dental clinics, this annual giveaway reflects the shelter’s broader mission to provide accessible, affordable veterinary care. Programs like the Dental Giveaway, along with spay/neuter, vaccine, and microchip clinics, help reduce medical-based surrenders and keep pets with their families.
