Hank is the biggest love bug you could ever hope to meet.
He loves running laps and having verbal altercations with squirrels, and rearranging the wood pile is a favorite hobby.
Hank is a hunter. He’s caught several mice in the back yard, as well as a few birds and squirrels in the year we’ve had him. He would do very well in a home with a big yard with lots of critters to chase around.
Hank loves blankets, pillows, and soft couches. He likes to bury himself in piles of whatever soft things he can find and then take a nap in said pile.
Plays well with other dogs.
Plays well with kids, but he doesn’t quite realize how big he is and has accidentally tackled a few littles. He was very sorry after doing that and tried giving lots of kisses to make up for it.
Loves camping, but is also kind of a baby and will want to go to bed early when he decides he’s had enough.
Hank was a rescue from HHP just about a year ago. We got him when he was about 6 months old and had been taken to the shelter after being posted on a “Free” page somewhere outside of Bozeman. We got him fixed shortly after adopting him and got him on a regular dewormer after he showed his hunting prowess.
Hank knows sit, lay down, stay, “your spot” (bedtime), come/here, and get it.
He chases the cat but also knows she has sharp claws and will get him if he pushes her too far. It took them a few months to figure out how to coexist, but now the cat will initiate nose sniffs with him if he sits still enough for her liking.
We unfortunately do not have a big enough yard or enough things for him to chase in said small yard, nor do we have the time or energy to meet his needs, and have come to the very difficult decision that we may not be the best home for him. He is so stinking sweet and wants to be the bestest boy that ever did live, and I wish we could be the right home to help him become the best boy he can be.
