SOLD OUT! If you would like to be added to our waitlist in case of any cancellations, please call 294-1137!
AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) course is a ten-skill training program that’s open to all dogs, purebreds and mixed breeds, that focuses on teaching the basics of good manners and obedience, instilling the values of responsible ownership, and strengthening the bond between you and your dog at home and out in the community. CGC also lays the foundation for other AKC sports and activities like obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. Some homeowners’ insurance programs even offer discounts for CGC dogs, and an increasing number of apartments and condos see CGC awards as a major bonus for becoming a resident!
Our CGC course is a six (6) week program lead by our certified, AKC Approved CGC Evaluator. Beginning on January 11th, classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7-8 PM at our Learning Center. The program cost is $155 which includes the CGC test at the end of the course. For more information about what skills are on the CGC test, please click here. Upon passing the test, your dog will receive the AKC CGC ribbon, certificate, and will be listed in the AKC CGC records.
Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. All dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds, ages six months and up are welcome to participate in this course with proof of age-appropriate vaccinations.
For more information or to get signed up, call 406-294-1137 or stop by the shelter in person. Registration ends Tuesday, January 4th at 12pm.
