YVAS hosts Open House to Celebrate New ‘Foster’ Home
On January 10, 2025, Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter (YVAS) officially moved into its new, though temporary, location off Jellison Road, marking a major milestone after four months of displacement following the September 10th incinerator incident. This transition represents the closing of a challenging chapter in the organization’s history, one defined by uncertainty but also by resilience, compassion, and unwavering community support. Throughout the displacement, staff, volunteers, fosters, and even the animals themselves demonstrated incredible strength and adaptability. Now, YVAS is ready to celebrate—celebrate renewed stability, the joy of bringing the entire team back under one roof, and most importantly, the partners and community members who stood beside the shelter when it needed them most.
OPEN HOUSE
So, you’re invited! Join Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter on March 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 5056 Jellison Road for a family-friendly Open House celebrating this exciting new chapter. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the new shelter setup, explore work-in-progress animal care areas, and see firsthand how the updated housing better reflects the standards of care and compassion YVAS strives to uphold.
FREE MICROCHIPS
And the best part? YVAS will be offering free microchips all day long! Microchipping provides a permanent form of identification that goes far beyond traditional ID tags, which can fall off, become damaged, or get lost. A microchip is a lifelong identifier implanted safely under the skin, significantly increasing the chances of being reunited with your pet if they ever go missing. To ensure everyone’s safety, YVAS asks that all animals arriving for microchipping be secured in a carrier or on a leash.
YVAS will also be giving away merchandise—including T-shirts, stickers, calendars, and more—while celebrating this exciting new chapter with the shelter.
While the Jellison Road location provides much-needed stability, it is not the final destination. YVAS’s capital campaign to fund and build a new permanent shelter is well underway, with the goal of opening the doors to a purpose-built, YVAS-owned facility within the next two years. Community members can support this effort by donating, volunteering, and—above all—helping spread the word to ensure a sustainable future for animals in our community. Thanks to our incredible community, YVAS is back, and better than ever.
